Man Cut During Altercation
A May Street resident was arrested in the wake of an altercation last week that resulted in a neighbor being cut.
The dispute was reported at 301 May Street around 10:30 Monday. Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department arrived at the apartment to find the 56-year-old victim suffering from a large laceration to his left hand. The victim reported that his attacker was an Hispanic male who had run toward the rear of the apartment.
Officers conducted a quick sweep of the area and report finding the suspect in an apartment situated directly behind the victim’s. A weapon was not located, however the suspect was transported to the Lawrence County Jail where officers awaited the arrival of a translator.
The suspect told officers that the victim had slapped him in the face during an argument, and that he, in turn, had thrown a beer at him, breaking a plate. He told officers that he attempted to grab the broken plate, causing the victim to be cut.
Officers noted in their report that the victim’s wound “looked to be defensive.” As a result of the investigation Francisco Tadeo Lopez, 27, of 301-D May Street, was placed under arrest on charges of aggravated assault. A preliminary General Sessions Court appearance has been scheduled for Friday, June 1.
